According to Job Bait’s free Executive Job Market Report outlining industry and employment trends by region, the hottest spots this month with the most $100k+ jobs include Leisure, Professional Services, and Retail Trade in Texas and Leisure in Florida and New York.
The statistics and trends in their report were calculated from Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data released on October 3, 2008.
The comparative data shows, for instance, that there are more $100k+ jobs per capita in New Jersey than West Virginia, Finance has higher salaries than Leisure, and turnover in Leisure is much greater than Government.
Data also indicates that $100K+ jobs in Education and Healthcare are growing faster than the population growth in most states.
With Wall Street woes hitting finance executives so hard, many are faced with possibly transitioning or shifting their career focus. Sarah Needleman suggested taking a broad approach in her Wall Street Journal Article, Where the Jobs Are For Wall Street Pros.
Some easy job transitions for finance executives that promise growth are:
→ Financial Communications. Investor-relations firms need professionals to assist clients in preparing and publicizing their financial news.
→ Wealth Management. Traders should look to the buy-side at hedge funds, insurers, and investment-management firms.
→ Risk Management. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates the number of risk-management-related financial jobs will increase 13% by 2016.
