C-level Executives Don’t Like Online Presence

In my experience, there are still a lot of top-level executives who are resistant to (or don’t see the need for) having an online identity beyond their LinkedIn profiles. I wrote about it over a year ago here on this blogsite.

At the time, I was specifically seeing a lot of resistance to LinkedIn, truly an essential for c-level executive job search and healthy career management. Most of the executives I speak with these days know they need a LinkedIn profile, but often need help branding it and fully fleshing it out.

What I’m finding now among my clients and potential clients is a fear of exposing themselves to the world. But this fear could prolong their job search, rendering them nearly invisible to the very people whose radar they needed to get on.

    Meg,
Yes, we spoke about this “fear”.
Perhaps a simple reminder: the internet only shares what we post, be aware at all times of what you are saying online.

      Hi Hannah. Thanks for commenting.

Good point — people should be careful about what they put out there online. But also, they shouldn’t be afraid to dive into job search 2.0. They’re missing golden opportunities by sitting on the sidelines.

      Best,
      Meg
