Fran, your lovely comments prove my point - laying oneself bare a little, as I did in my post, generates chemistry and encourages people to join the conversation.

It looks to me that you'll have no problem blogging from your voice, once you take the plunge. You already did it here! Remember that it's okay to start out playing it safe.

Two terrific resources are copyblogger.com and problogger.net -- they'll both help you get your sea legs and learn all the secrets to writing compelling blog posts, plus help with the inner workings of a blog.

Thanks so much! I greatly appreciate your kind words and continued readership.

Best of luck diving into blogging. I hope you love it as much as I do!

Hi Meg,
Thank you so much for writing this post now. You struck such a chord with me as I sit at my computer thinking about how to start exposing myself with a blog.

I felt as if I were reading my own unexpressed thoughts and feelings. I am very late to the social media world relative to my years in the recrutiing industry. For the first time I am preparing to start my own blog and suffering from all lthe doubts and fears you expressed.

"exposing my opinions and feelings about my values and relevant issues important to me. What if someone disagreed with or didn’t like what I wrote? What if expressing my brand turned people against doing business with me?"

I was trained a long time ago to be a chameleon. If I presented a neutral personality to my clients I would be able to mirror their ideas and thoughts. People like someone with common interests….correct? It took me quite a few years to realize that wasn’t necessarily true. I have been much more honest in expressing differing opinions over the years but now I’m thinking about going more public…..a little scary and very tempting to stay neutral (read boring).

It may still take me a while to take that first step but when I do I hope to be as successful as you have been at "finding my voice". Your blogs are always interesting and relevant.

Thanks again!
