I think we all know that networking is by far the best way to land your next job. Jason Alba made a critical point on his Jibber Jobber Blog a few days ago:
“If only 3% of jobs are found from job boards, why do you spend more than 3% of your time on job boards”?
In his own job search, Jason spent 90% of the time, 60 hours a week, on job boards – what he calls “a very unbalanced job search strategy”.
Although most of your time should be spent on networking, he suggests concentrating limited efforts in posting to job boards, focusing on niche boards, instead of the “monsters”.
